I can not understand or comprehend those words. Adrian, you and your husband have a beautiful family, with an amazingly gorgeous little “blondy” who has and will continue to take you along on his sometimes bumpy days. You touch our lives daily. Keep on keeping on my friend. These woman need a rude awakening…
- I teach and love ALL of my students. My goal has always been to make my classroom inviting and inclusive to all children. I have learned so many beautiful things about the world, my students, and myself through my interactions with all of them. Amos and others like him are a gift to the world. Thank you for being their voice…
- I’m so sorry you have to deal with the trolls. Clearly this person either is not real or is deeply disordered. All the colleagues I’ve met working within the Exceptional Children program LOVE their school kids specifically for all their neurodevelopmental variation.
- It is such an opportunity for your children to strengthen their empathy, compassion… It is so obvious that Amos is loved by your children. Life is messy, crazy, and unplanned. That makes life amazing and difficult for sure. Amos is a true gift to your family. He has opened many doors and opportunities for growth for your family and for those who know your family. Keep lighting the way for those who live in the dark!!!
That breaks my heart, yet I, too, have experienced similar people along our journey. We cannot let people like her steal our joy. You and I, as special needs mothers, know a love like no other. And furthermore, I truly believe our “typical” kids will be all the more caring and kind for having lived this “special needs” life. They know first hand unconditional love! I am thankful for your support and your friendship. I can’t even fathom our lives without Amos and Knox.
His big sisters and younger brother will carry on fighting for his quality of life and they love an unconditional love that many never know. He will also be a great filter for them, ensuring they are in the company of better people too.
It’s been shattering for me, to have to realize that people you should be able to love, trust and praise—such as teachers and doctors, share these views. Yes, many do. Sometimes in harmful ways be it abuse at school or a doctor failing to give your child quality care because they chose their bias over their oath. Just like there are bad cops, there are bad teachers, bad doctors, just plain bad people for our kids and it is a worry for me as my son ages and will be without me one day.
